As part of our ongoing spotlight series, we’re profiling colleagues who inspire us.
Our strategists are the architects of each project’s success.
They help our clients answer the pivotal questions of ‘why are we doing this?’ and ‘how will we get there?’ through research, analysis, and insights.
What does a typical day look like for you?
Everyday is different – some days you’ll be reviewing competitors and market trends and the next you’ll be conducting user interviews. The one constant – whatever the activity – you are consistently trying to find the balance of commercial and customer value
How did you get into strategy?
From university – I studied Design for Industry at Northumbria. It’s most easily described as an Industrial design degree but they expose you to multiple aspects of design (product, interaction and service) in the early years. The approach of these, your strategy so to speak, was consistent across all projects and the part that I really enjoyed – giving you opportunity to be curious and research new and exciting possibilities.
What’s the best thing about working with Athlon?
The culture – everyone is really friendly and works well together despite being a remote-first studio. A lot of this is down to the ways of working and investments made to get us together every quarter.
What inspires you?
The thought of creating positive impact – there’s a undeniably nice feeling improving someone’s experience whatever the project may be, from “that brand looks nice” to “this is so much easier”.
The bravest thing I done? Cliff jumping – the trick is to count to three and jump otherwise you won’t do it. Black Moss Pot in the lakes is a a great place for it!

Career highlight so far
It’s only been 2 years but it’s always pretty cool when you see what you’ve worked on come to life and are dotted about in the real world.
What do you geek out on?
Cricket, I’m very committed to watching the Ashes even when it’s in the middle of the night.
What do you get up to when you’re not plugged in?
Sport, I used to play a different sport every night of the week growing up and still enjoy getting to play as many as possible whenever I have the chance.
What would your superpower be?
Teleporting – I hate being stuck in traffic or delayed trains/flights, it’s 100% the worst part about travelling.
