Brand Challenges

The original brand identity of BOLD, while functional, lacked the emotional connection and clarity needed to resonate with its growing and diverse audience.

It needed to better communicate its role as a global leader in child development science and stand out in a crowded marketplace.

The brand also struggled to leverage the powerful name ‘BOLD’ in a way that captured the essence of being forward-thinking, authoritative, and approachable.
A new brand identity was essential to reflect its evolving mission and increase its reach across educators, caregivers, and researchers.

Amplifying the name BOLD

Our approach was centred on amplifying the inherent strength and potential of the name ‘BOLD’. We wanted to create a visual and verbal identity that reflected the initiative’s commitment to empowering its audience with science-based insights.

Key to this strategy was positioning BOLD as a leader in making academic knowledge accessible, trustworthy, and engaging. We sought to combine modernity with authority, using the name as a symbol of the platform’s boldness in delivering clear, impactful content. The strategic direction also involved crafting messaging that positioned BOLD as an inclusive, yet authoritative voice in child development, one that is respected by professionals while remaining approachable for caregivers

Design Approach

Visually, we leaned into the concept of boldness by adopting a clear, modern design that reflects both strength and approachability.

We refreshed the logo to incorporate clean lines and a contemporary font, symbolising clarity and authority.
Vibrant, yet professional colours were selected to convey energy and innovation without losing the gravitas needed for a scientific platform.

A fresh digital experience

The new branding also extended to a refreshed website experience, designed to be intuitive and accessible for time-poor educators and caregivers.

Through a balance of visual simplicity and thoughtful design, we ensured that BOLD’s brand aligned with its mission to provide valuable, science-based content in an engaging way.
